Aerolíneas clear for takeover

>Joint congressional committee recommends expropriation

A bicameral congressional committee urged President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner yesterday to expropriate the country's top airline as the government moves to bring the carrier under state control. The government is in talks to take over Aerolíneas Argentinas, owned by Spanish travel group Marsans. But negotiations have stalled over disagreement on how much the company is worth. The committee's recommendation opens the way for lawmakers to present legislation calling for the company to be expropriated, said Mariano West, a congressman from the ruling Peronist party. DAVIS CUP FINAL
'No letting guard down'
Argentina captain Alberto Mancini is expecting to face a tough opponent this weekend - despite the absence of top-ranked Rafael Nadal -when his team plays Spain in the Davis Cup final.
Juan Martín del Potro and David Nalbandian will play singles, but the doubles team will depend on "the results and intensity and length of the matches," Mancini said. Nalbandian could join José Acasuso or Agustín Calleri for the doubles.
